{"value":{"id":628067,"memberId":127,"member":null,"memberRole":"Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Health","uin":"HLWS236","dateMade":"2016-11-03T00:00:00","answeringBodyId":17,"answeringBodyName":"Department of Health","title":"Gosport Independent Panel: Terms of Reference","text":"<p>My Hon. friend the Minister of State, Department of Health (Philip Dunne) has made the following written ministerial statement.</p><p> </p><p>I wish to update the House about the investigation into Gosport War Memorial Hospital.</p><p> </p><p>On 10 July 2014, the former Minister for Care Services, Norman Lamb, announced the establishment of the Gosport Independent Panel, chaired by Bishop James Jones, set up to review documentary evidence held across a range of organisations concerning the initial care of families’ relatives and subsequent investigations into Gosport War Memorial Hospital.</p><p> </p><p>When the former Minister announced the terms of reference for the Gosport Independent Panel on 9 December 2014 the Government expected the Panel to complete its work by December 2017 (<a href=\"http://www.parliament.uk/business/publications/written-questions-answers-statements/written-statement/Commons/2014-12-09/HCWS78/\" target=\"_blank\">HCWS78</a>).</p><p> </p><p>As a consequence of the greater number of families now in contact with the Panel and the increase in the volume of material the Panel is reviewing, the Panel now expects to complete its work in spring 2018.</p><p> </p><p>The terms of reference have been updated to reflect this revised deadline and are attached.</p><p> </p>","house":"Lords","noticeNumber":0,"hasAttachments":true,"hasLinkedStatements":true,"linkedStatements":[{"linkedStatementId":628050,"linkType":"JointStatement","linkDate":"2016-11-03T00:00:00"}],"attachments":[{"url":"https://qna.files.parliament.uk/ws-attachments/628067/original/Gosport revised TOR.DOCX","title":"Gosport Revised Terms of Reference","fileType":"docx","fileSizeBytes":16938}]},"links":[{"rel":"self","href":"/Statements/628067","method":"GET"}]}
