{"value":{"id":1661550,"memberId":1582,"member":null,"memberRole":"Secretary of State for Defence","uin":"HCWS1043","dateMade":"2023-09-19T00:00:00","answeringBodyId":11,"answeringBodyName":"Ministry of Defence","title":"Revised Terms of Reference for the Independent Inquiry relating to Afghanistan","text":"<p>Further to the statement by the Rt Hon Ben Wallace MP dated 5 July 2023, I can confirm that the Terms of Reference of the Independent Inquiry relating to Afghanistan have been amended by agreement with the Chair the Rt Hon Lord Justice Haddon-Cave.</p><p> </p><p>I have placed a copy of the revised Terms of Reference in the Library of the House.</p><p> </p><p>The amendments reflect the Written Ministerial Statement, which avowed the involvement of Special Forces in alleged unlawful activity in Afghanistan in the period mid-2010 to mid-2013.</p><p> </p><p>In my new capacity as Secretary of State for Defence, I would like to reiterate my strong support for this Inquiry commissioned by the Rt Hon Ben Wallace MP.</p>","house":"Commons","noticeNumber":5,"hasAttachments":true,"hasLinkedStatements":true,"linkedStatements":[{"linkedStatementId":1661569,"linkType":"JointStatement","linkDate":"2023-09-19T00:00:00"}],"attachments":[{"url":"https://qna.files.parliament.uk/ws-attachments/1661550/original/2023090_TORs_Update.docx","title":"Afghanistan TORs","fileType":"docx","fileSizeBytes":37239}]},"links":[{"rel":"self","href":"/Statements/1661550","method":"GET"}]}
