{"value":{"id":1625016,"memberId":4728,"member":null,"memberRole":"Minister for Arts and Heritage","uin":"HLWS738","dateMade":"2023-05-02T00:00:00","answeringBodyId":217,"answeringBodyName":"Department for Culture, Media and Sport","title":"Appointments Update","text":"<p>I am repeating the following Written Ministerial Statement made today in the other place by my Right Honourable Friend, the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, Lucy Frazer KC MP</p><p>On Friday 28 April Richard Sharp submitted his resignation as Chair of the BBC Board. On the same day the Office of the Commissioner of Public Appointments published the decision notice on the inquiry into the appointment process for the Chair of the BBC Board.</p><p>I understand and respect Richard Sharp’s decision to stand down and following his resignation letter to me I wrote to him. A copy of this exchange of letters will be placed in the Libraries of both Houses.</p><p>The Board proposed that Richard Sharp stay in post until the next Board meeting on 27 June 2023, whilst an Acting Chair is appointed in line with the Charter. This will provide certainty and stability.
